This
puzzle is a combination between the Pentadeca
Puzzle and the Rattle puzzles. In
the latter puzzles the ratio between the rods and the pins is 1:1. In Susan's
Puzzle this ratio is however 15:19. De rods are also turned 45°.
Making
this puzzle is not difficult. First you have to make fifteen identical rods. The
length of these rods is approximately 10 times its diameter. Then five holes
have to be drilled in the edges of the rods. The distance between these holes is
exactly square root 2 numbered by the diameter of the rod. (So if the rod's
diameter is 2 cm, the distance between the holes is 2.83 cm). The pins you use
for this puzzle have a equal length as the rods. The pins can be glued in the
rods according to the diagram below. Beside these 15 pieces you have seven loose
pins.
