This puzzle is also part of
the family of the diagonal burrs just like the Wooden
Knot and the
Pentadeca
Puzzle. The main difference between those puzzle and the Chestnut burr is that
the ends of the rods in the latter are also slanting sawn, so the pieces can be packed very
compact. If all 24 pieces of this puzzle are constructed and placed correct you
get an nice puzzle whit a shape of a star or chestnut.
Six of the pieces of this
puzzle form the center of the puzzle. These are the larger pieces. Making the
pieces of this puzzle has to be done very precise. The length of the pieces has
to be sawn exact, otherwise the puzzle wont fit or is to loosely. Look at the description
of the Wooden Knot for advise in making this puzzle.
