These puzzles are based upon
the Chinese Cross Puzzle, but looks also a
bit like the Chestnut
burr. The puzzles is formed by several bridge pieces and a smaller amount of
key pieces. The pieces vary in length depending on the size of the puzzle. In
fact the maximal size of a Chuck puzzle is endless. Below three types of Chuck
puzzles are shown. The de Baby-Chuck,
Papa-Chuck en Grandpa-Chuck with 24, 56 en 96 pieces respectively.
The diagram below shows the
shape of the different pieces. Four bridge pieces and three key pieces are used
for the three Chuck puzzles. The pieces must be made very accurate,
because the puzzles won't fit if the pieces are to long. Piece A is three
units long, piece B six units, piece C nine units and the length of piece D is
twelve units.
For the Baby-Chuck, the
smallest puzzle, you need six B-pieces, sixteen A-pieces and two As-pieces. The
Papa-chuck is formed by six C-pieces, sixteen B-pieces, 28 A-pieces, two
Bs-pieces and two As-pieces. The largest puzzle, the Grandpa-Chuck, is made by
six D-pieces, sixteen C-pieces, 28 B-pieces, 40 A-pieces, two Cs-pieces, two
Bs-pieces and two As-pieces.
Making these puzzles isn't
very difficult. Although you need a lot of patience for making the larger
Chuck-puzzles. If you really have acquired a taste for these puzzles, you can
even built larger Chuck puzzles.
