This puzzle is based upon
the same principle as the Cube Cage,
Orion
and Cassiopeia. These three puzzles are derived
from the cube, the rhombic dodecahedron and rhombic triacontahedron. The Procyon
puzzle is based upon the truncuated octahedron which is made by six squares
and eight hexagons.
The
puzzle is made with 36 pieces. Twelve pieces form six 'squares', for each square
two pieces. Three pieces make one 'hexagon', so you need 24 pieces to make
eight hexagons. If you have some experience in making the Orion puzzle, it won't
be difficult to make and solve this puzzle.
When you construct this
puzzle you have to make eight hexagons and six squares first. After that, you
can link the parts together to complete the puzzle. Use the picture above to see how the puzzle should look like.
