Design by Vernon Wood
This puzzle has been designed
by Vernon Wood in the first half of the previous century. The puzzle is a
variation on the Cross puzzle, but looks also very
much on the smallest Pagode
Puzzle.
The puzzle is made with nine pieces: three rods with a square diameter and six
wooden plates.
Making this puzzle, you need a
square stick with a diameter of approximately 2 x 2 cm. The wooden plate must
have the same thickness as the square stick and its width is 2.5 times as big as
its thickness. In this example the width of the plate is 5 cm. The length of the
pieces depends on the width and thickness of the plate. This is twice the width
plus one time the thickness of the plate.
With the diagram below, you
can make the pieces. Keep in mind that the exact values depends on the size of
the plate and stick you buy.
